A biohacker who aims to live to 180 has revealed the trick he believes can help keep people looking young.
Dave Asprey, 52, a bestselling author widely credited with founding the biohacking movement, says psychological health sits at the centre of his anti-ageing philosophy.
'So many people actually hate their bodies or hate themselves,' Asprey said.
'Negative self-talk is the most self-destructive ageing accelerator that we have.'
He said his secret to slowing the ageing process is letting go of resentment, insisting no supplement or device can outperform the act of forgiveness.
'The number one technology to use if you want to live a very long time and be happy is forgiveness,' Asprey said.
'Any grudge you're holding, any aversion, any hatred, any anger. If you can be triggered, it means you're carrying a loaded gun and someone else's finger is on the trigger.'
Alongside controlling emotions, Asprey also highlighted the importance of skin technology in his daily longevity routine.
He said a device called LYMA Laser PRO helps him with cellular rejuvenation.
Asprey is estimated to have spent around $2.5million and decades attempting to reverse his biological age.
His top tips for living to 180 include sleeping well, eating high-quality animal protein and avoiding excessive exercise.
Challenging the trend for plant-based diets, Asprey said: 'If you want to make someone old quickly, put them on a vegan diet.
'If you want to destroy their fertility, put them on a vegan diet.'
He advocates nutrient-dense animal protein as a cornerstone of longevity nutrition.
Speaking about his fitness routine, he also pushed back against the more-is-more approach to exercise.
'You do not have to work out every day. In fact, that will probably make you old,' he said.
'Twenty minutes a week of exercise that causes your muscles to grow is sufficient.'
Asprey describes himself as the 'father of biohacking', a movement focused on maximising human performance by manipulating biology.
His age-defying treatments have included gene therapy costing roughly £25,000 per shot, injections of his own filtered urine as allergy therapy, and stem cell injections into his legs, arms, face, neck and penis to reduce inflammation and heal injuries.
Day to day, Asprey's routine also includes a specialised diet, exercise on AI-powered machines, more than 100 supplements, ice baths, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and red light therapy.
In 2024, Asprey also claimed fluctuating blood sugar levels can be responsible for disturbed sleep.
He said dips in glucose trigger the release of the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline, which can wake people during the night.
In an Instagram video shared with his 1.1 million followers, Asprey said: 'For most people who wake up between 3 to 5am and can't go back to sleep, it is usually due to a crash in your blood sugar.'
He explained that cortisol and adrenaline trigger the release of extra glucose, which experts say is stored in the liver and muscles.
'But the problem is cortisol and adrenaline wake you up,' he said. 'While the brain gets what it wants, you don't get your sleep.'
Instead, he recommended eating a 'small snack before bed' such as raw honey, collagen or MCT oil, or a mixture of the three.
MCT oil is a supplement made up of triglycerides, a type of fat found in coconut oil, palm kernel oil and some dairy products that is easier to digest than other fats.
Some limited research suggests collagen, MCT oil and honey, particularly raw honey such as Robinia or clover, may provide sustained energy without the blood sugar crash linked to other foods.
Asprey is a multimillionaire who made his money in Silicon Valley and founded the Bulletproof Coffee nutrition brand.
