NOVAK DJOKOVIC’S DAILY FITNESS AND DIET ROUTINE: HOW THE 38-YEAR-OLD GRAND SLAM CHAMPION STAYS IN PEAK SHAPE

“I feel like I can beat anybody.” At 38, Novak Djokovic is gunning for his 11th Australian Open. And behind a career that’s lasted over two decades, there’s an incredible fitness story.

“Look, I know that when I am healthy, when I can put all the pieces of the puzzle together on a given day… If I don’t have that self-belief and confidence in myself, I would not be sitting here and talking to you guys or competing,”

What Novak Djokovic’s Fitness Routine Looks Like

In an interview with podcaster Ben Johnson, the 38-year-old tennis player follows a rigorous workout routine.

“The very moment I wake up is always a prayer. It’s always an expression of gratitude, first of all, to be alive, to have another chance to live that day.”

He then trains himself by practising tennis or with some other outdoor activities. The Serbian athlete follows activities such as jogging, biking, running, hiking, and swimming in the sea. Apart from tennis, Novak Djokovic “likes to play other sports like football and basketball, padel or ping pong.”

“Once I’m done with the active part of the day, when comes the chilling part. I would possibly take a sauna or an ice bath before unwinding for the day.”

Novak Djokovic’s Diet

The real game-changer for Djokovic has been going gluten-free. Back in 2010, when at a Davis Cup tie in 2010, Djokovic was diagnosed with gluten and dairy sensitivity. He later even admitted, “Suddenly there was an X factor, a change in my diet that allowed my body to perform the way it was meant to.”

His daily nutrition starts off after his morning prayer. Novak Djokovic drinks lukewarm water with a pinch of salt, a squeeze of lemon, and a hydration mix.

His favorite smoothies contain a mix of berries, dates, superfood “maca powder”, and hemp seeds. Novak Djokovic sometimes adds blue spirulina and said, “Which does not taste great – it’s disgusting but disguised in the smoothie.”

He said, “I love dates, I can have dates all day.” The athlete avoids coffee but occasionally enjoys green tea.

His dinner includes lemon-roasted chicken, carrot-and-ginger soup, green salad, roasted tomatoes, and a kale Caesar salad. Other food items included in Novak Djokovic’s diet are vegan cheese, seeds, lentils, fish, fruits, beans, veggies, white meat, and healthy oils.
